The Position
The Senior Manager – Rare Diseases Data Partner is responsible for partnering with the Rare Diseases business unit to drive the effective use of data to address key business problems and opportunities. The senior manager will act as a trusted advisor to the Rare Diseases team, supported by broader Data Strategy department. The senior manager is responsible for partnering with strategic stakeholders to define data strategy, support key analytics & reporting initiatives, defining solutions to meet business needs, defining data management resource needs, managing work efforts between IT and business areas and managing project delivery efforts, where applicable.
The senior manager will be responsible for developing and prioritizing the roadmap of key data initiatives across the Rare Diseases business unit. The senior manager will also be responsible for advancing data governance standards and best practices within NNI to support our rare diseases ambitions.
Relationships
This role reports to the Senior Director – Data Strategy and is accountable for actively participating in multiple internal cross-functional teams locally and globally. The senior manager will need to effectively manage multiple stakeholders and the associated activities related to prioritized initiatives. External relationships are with multiple data vendors in support of business objectives for cross-functional stakeholders.
Essential Functions
Partners with Rare Diseases business unit and supporting departments to develop understanding of core business / analytical problems and identified data driven solutions to prioritized items
Supports commercialization efforts within the rare diseases space, defining the data strategy to support data driven decision making from opportunity identification to product launch and execution
Defines key projects, drives prioritization and manages roadmap of Rare Diseases Data Partnership collaborative projects
Provides data governance, data management and consultancy support for long term Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI) strategic initiatives including priorities outlined by NNI enterprise strategy, NNI digitalization strategy, new product areas and new market areas
Provides support to Rare Diseases business unit exploring new therapeutic areas, services or external partnerships ensuring appropriate data information and pricing are available for decision making
Functions as business project management lead on prioritized data driven / analytics focused initiatives; serves as strategic data and analytics consultant on prioritized projects, guiding various aspects of the project from data acquisition to outcome sharing / democratization
Leads acquisition and integration of identified data assets into NNI to support prioritized projects and answer business questions
Ensures organizational best practices, standard toolsets and training are embedded in Rare Diseases business unit
Implements data strategy solutions and instills data governance best practices within Rare Diseases business unit
Provides data management support to broader department and on specific prioritized projects
Defines near and long-term data and analytics needs for supported departments; partners to enable data and capabilities
Ensures cross org utilization of data & analytic best practices and alignment to defined policies within NNI
Drives alignment of customer data across departments, supporting 360 degree of customers
Drives integration of data assets with master data systems to ensure data could be utilized to derive 360 view of customers, improving our ability to address key business questions
Leads steering committees around prioritized projects
Coordinates activities between business and technology stakeholders
Advises stakeholders on data policies, processes and standards ensuring any data breech is appropriately addressed
Drives and manages the data definitions and business rule processes
Establishes patient data policies and guidelines through data governance best practices
Resolves data conflicts across business and technical areas
Manages communication on data change management and activities
Provides direction on creation of IT interface agreements ensuring all required data attributes are accounted for in file transfers from internal to external sources to support downstream patient data reporting
Engages with global counterparts in procurement and analytics to support and structure purchases of US data assets
Partners with IT to drive enhancements and improvements to backend processes related to aligned data, ensuring that they are functioning properly
Partners with procurement team in development of data RFP engagements through participation in contract negotiations supporting renewal of existing or new data purchases
Provides strategic and tactical direction to stakeholders in supported departments
Upholds data quality standards for all incoming/outgoing data deliverables via monitoring and troubleshooting data issues
Identifies, evaluates and recommends new data sources to drive outcomes
Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Math, Science, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred
Minimum 5 years experience in related data or analytics functions in the pharmaceutical industry required
Minimum 5 years related project management experience in the pharmaceutical or similar field required
Experience in the rare diseases space preferred, but not required
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of major pharmaceutical patient data sources required
Proficiency in analytics tools/systems, such as Tableau and Qlik preferred
Ability to work with all levels within the organization
Strong analytic skills required
Requires an expanded understanding of the core issues surrounding data, including the patient data privacy landscape
