Roles and Responsibilities
Data Engineer Lead
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field from a top-tier university; Advanced Degree is a plus
equivalent work experience may act as a substitute to degree requirements
• 6 years of hands-on experience developing cloud, enterprise applications or analytical
applications with a focus on back-end data processing and data analysis pipelines, preferably
within the health care industry
• Exceptional understanding and proven experience with RDBMS and SQL, with an emphasis on
data warehousing, data analytics, and performance tuning
• Proven experience with ETL, data integration, and data management concepts, including
packaged and/or cloud native ETL applications (Python and Spark) and data lake integration
• Proven experience leveraging AWS cloud-native technologies, with specific focus on:
- Backend/data management and processing services such as RDS, S3, Kinesis, Glue, and
Step functions.
• Excellent problem identification, analysis and solving skills; an innate ability to utilize all
resources at your disposal to find a creative solution to a problem, whether business/functional
or technical in nature
• A desire to take initiative and continuously work on improving the products you are responsible
for; an architects mindset for doing things “right” vs. Just getting things “done” and thinking
through art-of-the-possible
• A general interest in relevant emerging technologies and a constant thirst to further your own
technical abilities
• Working experience in Apache Spark, Python, Pyspark, SQL for data integration / wrangling and
data science use cases
• Hands-on experience with SDLC concepts and tools e.g., Jira, Git, Confluence, Jenkins, Concourse
Artifactory, etc.
• Experience leading data engineering teams, including providing subject matter expertise,
designing data pipelines, and defining requirements
• Experience working in an Agile development environment
• The ability to work well independently and as a team player with a global team spread across
multiple time zones (India, US)
• Excellent conversational and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical digital media marketing and healthcare claims data and a general
interest in the life sciences industry with focus on sales and marketing
• Experience with workflow management / orchestration software such as ActiveBatch, Apache
Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
• Hands-on experience in Unix/Linux shell scripts
• Experience working in a consulting or startup environment
