Data Engineer II
As a data engineer with Expedia Engineering team you will have the opportunity to use your technical expertise to design solutions that enrich the core marketplace platform with new features and functionality to run the business.
As a data engineer on the team, we expect you to be able to have good understanding of the Expedia Technology stack to carve out innovative solutions to tackle problems Core Marketplace focuses on. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside developers as a coach/mentor to them & work with very skilled engineers on various technology teams to come up with solutions. Our software uses Java, Scala, Big Data technologies such as spark, hive, Hadoop, AWS S3, Lambda, Microsoft BI tech stack, Redshift, and we are deployed in AWS.
What you’ll do:
Design and develop, scalable cloud-native solution that are scalable, responsive & resilient
Adopt change, always be open to replacing what you built yesterday with something better today
Develop, test, own and deliver Sprint tasks and help drive the team forward
Collaborate with teams and individuals to complete your team assignment on time, with quality
Work across multiple layers of the stack as the problem demands
Have a strong sense of ownership on all Technical issues
Identify risks, issues & drive them to mitigation/resolution as required in the scope of your work
Prototype ideas, execute and learn from them and enrich the overall team experience
Contribute to advancing the team’s design methodology and quality programming practices
Who you are:
Proficient in using Database languages (SQL Server or Teradata preferably)
Experience in Big Data platforms including Hadoop, Spark, hive or MapReduce
Proficient with DWH concepts, with experience in dimensional modelling and BI
Proficient in at least one ETL tool (Informatica, SSIS, etc)
Exposure in one or more of the following scripting language – shell, python, Perl
Solid understanding in one programming language – Java, Python, Scala
Understanding of cloud technologies (eg. AWS etc.)
Solid understanding in Adobe Analytics
