Roles and Responsibilities
- Help write and optimize in-application SQL statements
- Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
- Prepare documentations and specifications
- Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
- Profile server resource usage, and optimize and tweak as necessary
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
- Independently analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end- to-end
- Data Migration from MariaDB to MySQL
- Performance Tuning and Query Optimization
Desired Candidate Profile
- Strong proficiency with SQL and its variation among popular databases
- Experience with some of the modern relational databases
- Skilled at optimizing large complicated SQL statements
- Excellent skill in communicating orally and in writing with people
- Excellent troubleshooting ability
- Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databases
- Capable of configuring popular database engines and orchestrating clusters as necessary
- Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications
- Capable of troubleshooting common database issues
- Familiar with tools that can aid with profiling server resource usage and optimizing it
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git / TFS / SVN / VAULT
- Programming views, stored procedures, dynamic query and functions
- Communication between linked servers, debugging T-SQL, data analysis, preventive actions and remediation.
- Knowledge of creating table indexes, query optimization, profiler, statistics.
- MSSQL Server Reporting Services 2008/2005/2000 (SSRS)
- Deployment of SSRS on production server
- Knowledge of SQL Profiler
- Reorganizing and Rebuilding indexes in SQL Server
- Data Transformation Services (DTS)
- Create SSIS packages, transfer data between OLTP and OLAP databases
