Responsibilities for data scientist intern
- Assist with SQL
- Uses business acumen to solution strategy and roadmap problems and make best practice recommendations
- Work closely with product managers to identify and answer important product questions that help improve outcomes
- Regularly invents new and novel approaches to problems
- Comfortable manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high dimensionality data from multiple sources
- Assist in predictive modeling for applications in underwriting
- Perform tests and develop diagnostic methodology to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data process pipeline
- Validate and clean data from multiple sources
- Participate in research related activities
- Work cross-functionally across the enterprise to understand and support the use of real world data assets (EMR, claims, phenotypic data, ) and to enhance research evidence generation
### Qualifications for data scientist intern
- Experience with Hadoop, Hive, or MongoDB or Dynamo DB knowledge
- Experience in a Linux/Unix environment, with Git, AWS, or APIs through co-op or school programs
- Experience in statistical analysis, data mining, and/or machine learning
- Currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD degree program in a quantitative degree (Statistics, Economics, Advanced Analytics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Decision Sciences, Computer Science)
- Graduate student with a focus in Statistics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics or other quantitative field
- Ability to demonstrate conceptual and innovative thinking in forecasting methods and techniques
