Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for leading and managing a team of data management and data governance professionals in the development and implementation of policies, standards, best practices, and procedures, in conjunction with business data stewards, to set the standards for data and metadata to be used within DAS and throughout HCSC.
This role enables data stewardship, implements data governance policies and best practices, defines standards for and promotes data lineage, and supports the identification of master/reference data and its metadata, owners, stewards, and use across HCSC.
This role works to improve and maintain the quality of DAS data, through measurement, monitoring, and continual remediation and improvement, to provide effective enterprise data management.
- Bachelor Degree and 5 years of data and analytics experience OR 9 years of data and analytics experience
- 3 years of management experience
- Knowledge of big data and analytical technologies
- Experience in data modeling and data representation
- Ability to construct E-R diagram and conceptual data model
- Experience and understanding of JSON, XML, WSDL data structures
- Ability to simplify and standardize complex concepts and/or processes
- Oral & written communication skills
- Program and/or project management
- Ability to execute, influence, prioritize, and make trade-offs
- Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Business Management, Programming, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics OR a related discipline, or its equivalent
- Experience leading and implementing a Data Governance and Stewardship program, including measurement, improvement (maturity), and training
- Experience with Data Quality Lifecyle components and Issue Management execution
- Experience with business glossary, data cataloging, and metadata management systems; to centralize access and communication of enterprise information
- Ability to translate business priorities into data governance roadmap activities and prioritized capabilities
- Team building, coaching, and mentoring experience
- Effective at building trust, respect, and cooperation among teams
- Adaptability/ability to effectively manage change
- Business acumen, strategic and analytical thinking, and creative problem solving ability
- Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills
- Healthcare industry experience, i.e. provider, payer, etc.
- Experience with one or more Data Governance tools
- Knowledge of Master Data Management and Reference Data Management concepts, techniques, processes, and workflows
- Knowledge of data architecture and database structures, including in cloud based storage environments
- Meeting and team facilitation experience with the ability to drive issues to closure
