Job Description

TITLE: Health Care Data Analyst 1 – Professional/Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: The health care data analyst is responsible for producing reports on clinical performance measures, focused clinical studies and patient satisfaction measures in a manner which translates most effectively into information for decision-making toward improved clinical care processes and clinical, service and financial outcomes.

AREA OF ASSIGNMENT: Outcomes Management

HOURS OF WORK: Monday-Friday, 0800-1630 with limited requirements for flexible hours.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director Outcomes Management

Pre-requisites

Minimum associate degree in health care field or equivalent preferably in Health Information Management, a clinical field or healthcare informatics.

Minimum 2 years recent employment in acute health care setting preferred.

Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of MS Office Suite particularly Excel and Access.

Ability to design and implement systems necessary to collect, analyze, report and file data.

Proficiency in use of Excel’s Analysis Tool Kit and QI Macros or equivalent statistical analysis software.

Ability to generate reports from various software programs and databases.

Ability to use quantitative and qualitative data in performance measurement.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of data and information as required.

Requires planning, organizing and working on multiple tasks at one time.

Requires deep concentration for a large volume of work that must be completed within a limited period of time to meet deadlines for reporting.

Performance Responsibilies

Support the organization-wide quality management, patient safety and performance improvement program through retrieval, analysis and reporting of data internally and externally in accordance with regulatory requirements and organization-wide standards.

Produce reports and information as requested within established time frames.

Develop and maintain competency in clinical decision support systems (including but not limited to 3M, STAR, Medstat: Performance Expert and Core Measures, Q-Net Exchange).

Identify and report variations in clinical care that require immediate follow-through.

Utilize various software applications for data collection, analysis and reporting.

Perform other duties as assigned.
