Strategic Business Analyst
Job Description
Raymour & Flanigan Furniture is currently seeking an enthusiastic IT Strategic Business Analyst to join the technology team in Liverpool, NY. The primary focus of this role is to bridge the gap between business needs and technology, to help define and solve strategic business issues and drive enhancements in all areas of the business. The Strategic Business Analyst will work within IT Business Support Teams and the business on a daily basis.
Requirements:
- Exceptional written and oral skills sufficient to communicate effectively with varied roles including both nontechnical and technical disciplines including technology, business units and leadership;
- Experience with Agile & Waterfall methodologies (Agile preferred);
- Understands how technology applications and systems support business Drives innovation and creative solutions by providing value propositions;
- Implements best practices and uses knowledge of internal and external technology challenges and opportunities to drive business transformation. Addresses risks, limitations, and vulnerabilities;
- Define, document and translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications;
- Assist testing teams in translating requirements and use cases into test conditions and expected results for product, performance, user acceptance, and operational acceptance testing;
- Contribute to project/product management activities such as: scoping and estimating project efforts/backlog grooming, identifying risks and recommending mitigation measures, communicating activity status, as well as escalating and communicating possible issues;
- Acts independently or as a member of a project/product team responsible for providing functional and high- level technical guidance concerning the business implications of the application of various systems and software;
- Ability to handle multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment;
- Analyze existing systems to determine their effectiveness in meeting the needs of end users;
- Help the business develop strategies to better leverage existing systems in accordance with their business needs;
- Engaging with business stakeholders towards understanding, summarizing and presenting complex technical issues to a non-technical audience;
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of end user and company information;
- Outstanding customer and interpersonal skills;
- Self-directed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supports Product Owner with strategy and decision making and roadmap activities.
- Ensures each of the various customer perspectives are considered and makes recommendations to align with the overall product objectives.
- Ability to ensure sufficient backlog to keep teams working; that items have clearly defined dependencies (grooming).
- Gathers metrics and data for the sprint review.
- Defining intended system behaviors and understanding business Facilitate gathering and documentation of business requirements from project stakeholders and subject matter experts to produce formal user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria and quality assurance documentation.
- Assist testing teams in translating requirements and use cases into test conditions and expected results for product, performance, user acceptance, and operational acceptance testing.
- Independently complete analysis and perform validation of new features (UAT); document functional and system requirements; and produce supporting artifacts, including user stories and acceptance criteria, story maps, data flows & process flows.
- Implements best practices and uses knowledge of internal and external technology challenges and opportunities to drive business transformation. Addresses risks, limitations, and vulnerabilities.
- Contribute to project/product management activities such as: scoping and estimating project efforts/backlog grooming, identifying risks and recommending mitigation measures, communicating activity status, as well as escalating and communicating possible issues.
- Acts independently or as a member of a project/product team responsible for providing functional and high- level technical guidance concerning the business implications of the application of various systems and software.
- Performing strategic analyses of internal data to uncover and understand key trends in the business.
- Identifying potential areas of risk and propose methodologies and solutions to overcome.
- Assist business with completing a business case for project Help define the challenge, obstacle, issue.
- Elicit requirements from the business that are clear, well defined and can be validated through testing.
- Validate requests and related requirements are in line with the business
- Understand the business goals and vision to help with identification of alternative business strategies.
- Participate in design sessions with the implementation team to help define solution options.
- Cultivate strong, trust-based relationships with internal customer base, vendors, and other internal technical support personnel to provide strong project management services.
- Perform additional functions that may be assigned at the discretion of management
- Other job duties based on business need.
Knowledge/Skills
- Strong experience with requirement analysis, SDLC, Agile and Waterfall framework, Agile & MS Office tools;
- Ability to listen, and build rapport and credibility as a strategic partner within the business unit, as well as with leadership and functional teams;
- Ability to stay focused on identified priorities;
- Ability to deal efficiently with escalations and difficult situations/people under pressure;
- Customer-oriented approach in managing communications and issues;
- Highly organized and able to manage time effectively;
- Flexible and adaptive to changing business environment and stakeholder priorities;
- Excellent listening skills in order to successfully interpret business needs.
Experience/Education
- 5+ years functional experience.
- 7+ years’ experience facilitating implementation of business/technology strategic products and projects based on management objectives.
- Experience in evaluating business processes and driving efficiency improvements leveraging technology.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with senior management.
- Project management experience a plus.
