AirAsia Software Engineering Team (AASET) is a technology centre that design and create custom-built solutions for the group’s airline and digital businesses. It is a global initiative to drive its digital transformation.

The technology centre comprises of a team of software engineering and technology experts based in Kuala Lumpur office and Bangalore, who would work to streamline the airlines’ digital assets such as its website and mobile app along with creating and implementing new products and enhancements such as the new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot, among others, for a seamless journey.

DevOps, Tools & Platforms team at AirAsia focuses on a discipline that combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems. DevOps engineer ensures that AirAsia’s internally and external critical systems and services—have reliability and uptime appropriate to users’ needs and a fast rate of improvement while keeping an ever-watchful eye on capacity and performance. We are looking for someone to join our growing team in Kuala Lumpur to be part of the Digital and Cultural transformation @ AirAsia

What You’ll Do:

• Increase service reliability by helping to build standards and monitoring infrastructure

• Improve application delivery process by automating and building pipelines as well kubernetes driven release process

• Identify and resolve problems related to critical service operations and to prevent their recurrence using automated and load testing suites

• Review and help improve existing infrastructures from cost and optimization perspective

• Help aggressive cost optimization drives across the organization

• Design and implement end to end devops process, continuous monitoring solutions by utilizing real-time performance metric collection with dashboard visualization

• Improve the incident management lifecycle to identify, mitigate, and learn from reliability risks

• Develop platform tools which improves and automates overall application development and delivery lifecycle

About You:

• BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field

• 2+ years of professional experience- having strong hands-on experience on backend development will be preferred

• You know how to code in either(or all) of these: Python, GO, Shell

• You have understanding of how systems work; so you know about distributed systems & microservices, their delivery process as well as monitoring strategies

• You are comfortable in expressing your designs using appropriate diagrams like flow charts, sequence diagrams, infrastructure diagrams etc.

• You love to write a CLI or automation script to get the boring stuffs done

• You are not afraid to get your hands dirty in a terminal

• You have worked on at least one renowned cloud provider like AWS, GCP or AZURE and have clear idea about different cloud options available out there

• You are experienced to work with Docker and Kubernetes– with clear understanding of underlying basics

• You have understanding of continuous integration & delivery process and have implemented before

• You know about VPC, subnet, routing, NAT and other network basics and not ignorant to ask why learning them is important

• You understand development process in general and different layers of it, so you know exactly what you bring to the table as a devops person

• You have worked with IAC or Config Management tools like Terraform, Ansible etc.
