TITLE: Data Engineer
LOCATION: Philadelphia area
- This role would be Hybrid, requiring you to come onsite at least 1x per week.
Contract length: 12 months – with the possibility of extension
The Company
A leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical organization. You will join a team that is focused on medical research and product development of therapies for disease.
THE ROLE
You will sit on the Data Engineering and Platforms team. As a Data Engineer, you will collaborate with internal and external partners to support the operations of the Data Science department, handling large and complex clinical data sets.
Key Responsibilities
- Implements and supports data management solutions (storage and integration of molecular, clinical, and technical data and bioinformatics analysis outputs) and best practices in partnership with data scientists and internal IT partners
- Engineers infrastructural components and operational workflows for data access and integration
- Performs miscellaneous programming tasks to support existing in-house data tools, platforms and workflows
- Performs data curation and quality control as required
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. OR a Master’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience OR a bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of experience in computer science, mathematics, bioinformatics, computational biology, physics, engineering or information technology is required
- Expert knowledge using Python
- Database management and programming (SQL, NoSQL) experience is required
- Familiarity with a statistical programming language (R or SAS) is preferred
- A working knowledge of web application design and programming is preferred
- Familiarity with Amazon Web Services is preferred
- A background within Biology, Medicine, bioinformatics, pharmaceutical is highly preferred
Compensation
Hourly rate: $60-$70 per hour – this is based on levels of experience
