Advanced Quantitative Cloud Analytics (ACQA) is the strategic risk and analytics platform at UBS. Built entirely on Microsoft Azure and running production workloads for several asset classes, ACQA is an established pillar of our technology strategy with ambitious plans today, with inclusive plans for today and in the years ahead. At its heart ACQA is Python but we also use other languages including Java and Scala.

Your team

A large global team on a flagship system being built entirely in the cloud, with the very highest profile in the organization. We are organized into small autonomous teams that are empowered to deliver cutting edge systems fast. Working directly with the quants and traders, you will gain invaluable exposure to the latest technology and the opportunity to learn from the genuine industry experts. As the project grows you will find strong opportunities for progression through leadership and/or becoming established as a highly valued technical expert.

Your expertise

a love of data, a passion for working deep in massive complex datasets. You thrive when you are swimming in data and get a buzz from finding data driven answers
a deep software engineering background that fuels a passion for engineering best in class systems to process giant datasets
an enthusiasm for picking up the domain of financial derivative products, their risks, and how the data flow to process them works
strong communication skills, written and spoken, you enjoy the challenge of communicating complex subjects concisely
strong knowledge of Spark / PySpark or other data focused work on massive, complex datasets. You’ve built, tested and tuned jobs that operate on big data; some exposure to cloud-based systems (ideally Microsoft Azure) is desirable, a desire to learn more is essential
some exposure to web-based UI frameworks would be useful, though not essential; Python experience or a strong desire to learn Python
a passionate, kind & inclusive engineer. Dedicated to building software that end users love. You enjoy working in a fast-paced agile environment
a dev-ops evangelist. Committed & enthusiastic towards helping to improve the developer experience for everybody working on the ACQA platform and interacting with your code
a teacher. You enjoy helping those around you develop their skills, while you develop your own
