Job Location: Chennai

  • Supporting DB2 LUW database technologies on AIX 7.2, SuSE 12.3 environments.
  • Supporting Databases using Partitioning and HA/DR features of DB2 LUW.
  • Installing and Upgrading DB2 LUW databases.
  • Backup / Recovery / DR for DB2 LUW databases, including tape backup, database mirroring and storage mirroring technologies.
  • Supporting Database refreshes.
  • Working with variety of global customers.
  • Database support for SAP applications.
  • Troubleshooting end-to-end performance related issues including database performance, OS / Server performance, along with network and storage related issues.
  • Monitor the DB2 LUW databases as part of the incident management.
  • Working with other infrastructure support organizations like Server operations, Storage operations, Backup operations, and application development and management teams.
  • Enforcing IT policy and security requirements for database access and controls.
  • Working with ticketing systems that coordinate incoming incidents and customer requests.
  • Working with change control systems to coordinate changes with other infrastructure teams.

Area of professional exposure (functional/technical skills) :

  • DB2 LUW database technology on AIX 7.2, SuSE 12.3 environments.

  • In-depth knowledge of AIX and SuSE Linux Operating Systems including expertise in shell scripts.

  • Databases using Partitioning and HA/DR features of DB2 LUW.

  • Backup / Recovery / DR for DB2 LUW databases, including tape backup and storage mirroring technologies.

  • Troubleshooting end-to-end performance related issues including application code, database performance, OS / Server performance, along with network and storage related issues.

  • In-depth knowledge of DB2 LUW utilities like LOAD, EXPORT, IMPORT, BACKUP and RESTORE.

  • In-depth understanding of DSM/DMC Tool for monitoring DB2 LUW database portfolio.

  • Conducive approach when working with other infrastructure support organizations like Server operations, Storage operations, Backup operations, and application development and management teams.

  • Commitment to provide 24×7 On-call support on a scheduled basis.

    • Functional skills :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.

  • 3+ years in-depth experience in the administration and support of DB2 LUW databases in one or more computing environments.

  • Ability to handle basic systems administration tasks (e.g., installations, upgrades and backups).

  • Demonstrated experience working well with customers of varying levels of technical expertise in high-pressure situations and complex environments.

  • Solid team player with good communication and writing skills.
