“Data Engineer Role

As a Data Engineer, you will work in the ETTS BU Data Analytics team of BorgWarner hand in hand with the business stakeholders, the Center of Excellence (CoE) team and external developers throughout the entire data process from managing data to analyzing it. You need to understand how to optimize data retrieval and how to develop dashboards, reports and other visualizations for stakeholders in order to merge diverse, and potentially conflicting business interests into a coherent, cost effective set of project priorities following agile practices in a highly collaborative and cross-functional environment.

Key Skills:
Data Engineer Skill Requirements:

  • programming languages like SQL, Java, Python, R

  • knowledge in different Data Ingestion/Integration Tools like HVR, Informatica, Qlik Replicate/ Attunity Replicate or Azure Data Factory and Synapse

  • Experience working with Data Analytics and Visualization Tools like Power BI, Qlik Sense; other tools like Tableau would be a plus

  • Experience working with Data Lake/ Data Warehouse architectures and technologies like Snowflake is preferred; other tools/platforms like Alteryx, MS Synapse, Apache Spark would be big plus

  • Knowledge of different source systems especially SAP ERP, SAP HANA, PostgreSQL or MES would be beneficial

  • SQL data base design and Data Modeling expertise

  • General understanding of ETL (extract, transform, load) processes

  • Good knowledge in cloud technology and exposure in cloud tools like AWS, MS Azure

  • Agile/DevOps Project Management skills critical, experience on analytics projects is strongly desired

  • PMP certification optional, working knowledge of Microsoft Project

    • Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’ s degree or master’s degree in computer science, data science and/or Business informatics

  • 5 years + of related experience in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, BI, data management, business analysis, project management required or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
