    Tagging Analyst

    Job Summary In this role, you will be initially trained as a Tagging Analyst (non-technical side of the Speech Science team) for NLU and Digital VA systems. Preliminary work combines elements of Semantic Tagging and basic Speech Science. The crux of Speech Science is building, analyzing, and improving speech-controlled interactive applications. Much of our business involves inbound telephone IVRs, although we may also work on phone and web applications, or outbound systems.

    Tagging Analyst – Role & Responsibilities
    The Tagging Analyst (Tagger) assists in the development of Natural Language Understanding (NLU) components in IVR (Interactive Voice Response) applications. This role is progressively technical in scope. It requires a high degree of communication with both internal project teams and the client.

    • Tagger is responsible for understanding, developing, and updating a tagging guide used to create NLU grammars
    • Tagger uses above knowledge to assign semantic tags to transcribed utterances (aka the corpus)
    • Tagger supports the internal project team to ensure that the tagged data is suitable for grammar development, design, and QA activities
    • During tuning phases, the Tagger identifies new caller intentions; these intentions can influence the application design, and potentially lead to further automation & self-service
    • Review of test results, perform analysis, determine root causes of errors
    • Attend project status calls on a regular basis
    • Ensure clear communication of issues with internal project teams
    • Meet with client to communicate and present the tagging guide design, convey updates, clarify any ambiguities, and ensure that the design satisfies project requirements

    Qualifications Bachelor’s degree – a degree in English is preferred 3 to 5 years’ experience in a services organization is required
