Key Objectives/Deliverables
Drive optimization through discovery, development, and sharing of cost-saving opportunities
e.g., translating financial insights into actionable recommendations, promoting cost-aware
architecture design, and leveraging code to automate resource optimization. In this capacity
it is critical that you have high learning agility, ability to influence without authority,
communication skills, and enjoy educating/guiding others.
Partner with the Cloud Foundation and Cloud Operations teams to implement CFM policies
and optimize design through automation within the AWS and Azure enterprise
environments
Evangelize FinOps principles across teams leading to better adoption. Coach the teams on
FinOps principles to make then self-driven and sustainable
Act as the technical expert for the IDS Cost Transparency tools/dashboards. This includes
configuring functionality, creating/enhancing visualizations, maintaining design and
guidance documentation, and providing support.
Leverage the CFM tools, interpret the findings, and make technical recommendations to the
business application teams to help reduce ongoing cost.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
2+ years working in cloud computing or IT infrastructure/platforms role
2+ years of experience with AWS and/or Azure
Technical knowledge and administrator experience of AWS / Azure and its services (e.g.
Console Access, Trusted Advisor, Cost Explorer, Compute Optimizer, Reserved Instances,
Savings Plans,Portal Access, Azure Advisor)
Deep understanding of FinOps, and FinOps tools to guide the design and delivery of Cloud
Financial Management models and including processes, capability structure and KPI
Additional Skills/Preferences
Previous experience in cost optimization advisory projects will be an added advantage
Experience in cloud application strategy/roadmap and awareness of cloud operating model
is desirable
Experience with automation technologies for CI/CD (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, AWS Code
pipeline)
Experience with visualization tools (e.g., QuickSight, Power BI)
Experience with Python, JSON, YAML, ARM, Cloud Formation
Knowledge of cloud management and governance tools (e.g., Cloud Custodian, Trusted
Advisor)
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, etc.
Detail-oriented with excellent documentation skills/methodologies, who can successfully
manage multiple priorities
Demonstrable high level of intellectual curiosity, external perspective, and innovation
interest.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex technical topics to a
non-technical or IDS leadership audience
